Liverpool vs Southampton - Match Preview

11:59

A look at the tie between Liverpool vs Southampton at St. Mary's.

A big game for:

Sadio Mane. The Liverpool forward, signed from Southampton last summer, was a constant thorn in the Reds' side at his previous club. Liverpool will hope he can continue such form in this tie against his old club.

Best Stat:

7. The Reds are unbeaten in the last 7 games and their last defeat came at the hands of Bournemouth 4-3.

Remember when:

Divock Origi opened his scoring with Liverpool with a hat-trick, Sturridge scored two and Jordan Ibe scored one. The only goal from Southampton was scored by Sadio Mane. This was the first time in Liverpool's history that a player had opened his account with a hat-trick since Ronny Rosenthal in a 4-0 win against Charlton Athletic in 1990. This match was won by Liverpool 6-1 and it was a League Cup tie and was played in December 2015.

Player to watch:

Virgil Van Dijk. Considered as one of the world's best defender, the centre-back will have the responsibility to hold Firmino and Mane.

Previous meetings:

Southampton 0 - Liverpool 0 Premier League November 2016.
Southampton 3 (Mane 2, Pelle) - Liverpool 2 (Coutinho, Sturridge) Premier League March 2016.
Southampton 1 (Mane) - Liverpool 6 (Sturridge 2, Origi 3, Ibe) League Cup December 2015.

Form guide:

Liverpool: DDWWW.
Southampton: DLLLW.

Match odds:

Southampton win: 13/5
Liverpool win: 5/4
Draw: 28/11.

So from my point of view, Liverpool clearly has the upper hand but they were held by Plymouth in their previous match so that would definitely give a slight mental advantage to Southampton. But who knows let's just pray and hope that the best team wins. Stay tuned for more.

Manchester United vs Hull City - Match Report: 1st leg

11:02

Braces from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini give United the advantage over Hull.

Mata and Fellaini scored in the second half as Manchester United secured a 2-0 win over Hull City in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Ibrahimovic was left out due to illness and Rashford started for him, while Rooney started but he was left to wait for the goal that will make him the club's leading goalscorer.

United made a strong start when Mata lashed a shot in the 2nd minute but Hull keeper Eldin Jakupovic was alert and dived to his right to make the save.

Juan Mata did a La Croqueta in the box and passed it to Mkhitaryan but his first-time shot was off target.

United had a scare after the half-hour mark when Adama Diomande's header struck the post before the offside flag was up.

Five minutes into the break Rooney came close to finding his record breaker when he ran into a pass from Pogba and fired inches wide.

The deadlock was broken in the 56th minute when Antonio Valencia's cross found Mkhitaryan and the Armenian headed at the back post for Mata to score.

United remained in full control, with Pogba hitting the post with his free kick and Rooney, Mata and Mkhitaryan were substituted by Martial, Fellaini and Lingard respectively.

Maraoune Fellaini answered his critics by a goal with his head in the 87th minute with a cross for Matteo Darmian who was extraordinary in the game and doubled United's advantage.

Manchester United vs Hull City - Match Preview

19:53

Manchester United will look to book their place in the League Cup finals when the face Hull City.

It's a big game for:

Ahmed Elmohamady: The Egyptian has been linked with Everton for a 4 million pounds move and it could be disturbing for the midfielder.

Best Stat:

10. Manchester United has been unbeaten for 10 games at the Old Trafford and they lost their last match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since then United has been unbeaten for 17 games.

Remember when:

An action-packed match at Old Trafford on 23rd September 1987 in the English League Cup 2nd round United demolished Hull 5-0 with goals from Paul McGrath, Gordan Strachan, Brian McClair, Norman Whiteside and Peter Davenport.

Player to watch:

Wayne Rooney. Wayne Rooney has recently equaled Sir Bobby Charlton's record of United's highest scorer of 249 goals and he will be the player to watch in the League Cup tie.

Past three meetings...

Manchester United 1(Marcus Rashford) - Hull City 0. Premier League August 2016.
Manchester United 0 - Hull City 0. Premier League May 2015.
Manchester United 3 (Chris Smalling, Rooney, Van Persie) - Hull City 0. Premier League November 2014.

Form guide:

Manchester United: WWWWW.

Hull City: WLDLL.

Match odds:

Manchester United win- 2/11
Hull City win- 22/1
Draw- 15/2

The match will be interesting and I believe that United will and should win this game and play the finals of the Cup most probably against Liverpool who face Southampton on 12th January.

Real Madrid vs Granada - Match Report

20:17

Isco's double helps Real equal Barcelona's unbeaten record.

Isco scored two goals and Ronaldo, Benzema and Casemiro scored one each as Real thrash Granada 5-0 and equal Barcelona's record of an unbeaten streak, but the European record of 43 matches unbeaten still stands which was created by Juventus.

Real had a chance early in the 9th minute when Marcelo took an amazing turn but his shot sailed a few inches over the bar.

But they didn't have to wait too long when Isco finished a close range effort and gave Real the lead in the 12th minute.

Real scored again after eight minutes when Luka Modric's shot was saved by Ochoa but it was straight into the path of Karima Benzema who just had to tap the ball in to give Real their second goal.

The best player in the world scored his first goal of the year when Marcelo showed some amazing footwork and power and crossed in to Ronaldo who had no problem in heading the ball in the net and give Real their third one.

Isco scored his second four minutes later when Luka Modric intercepted a pass and crossed into the box which found Isco who finished it easily from six yards.

Real could have scored another goal when Benzema's shot in the 46th minute was saved by Ochoa.

Casemiro scored Real's fifth in the 57th minute after a left-footed James Rodriguez free kick.

Ochoa saved a close-range finish by Benzema fantastically at his near post before he was flagged offside.

Manchester United vs Reading - Match Preview

14:41

United are currently in form and have won their last 6 games the longest winning streak after Sir Alex Ferguson left United. United have just one player injured and that is their captain Wayne Rooney who is out with a hamstring injury and has missed 4 matches. Eric Bailly will also not be available for this match as he was called up by the national team to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Reading on the other side, have won 4 and lost 1 out of their last 5 games and their last victory was against Bristol City 3-2 on 2nd December 2016. They have no player injured or suspended but five players are on the verge of suspensions each of them has picked up 4-4 yellow cards.

United are clearly the favorites to win and advance to the next round of F.A. Cup but let's see that can Reading F.C. give them a tough fight. Stay tuned for more.
